The arrival of the “new” HAR.com

Yesterday, as I was about to log into my MLS account to check some Houston foreclosures, this banner caught my attention:

A quick phone call to the Houston Association of Realtors reveals that the primary site for Houston real estate listings is undergoing a makeover. A few new search tools and mostly design and color scheme changes. This will only affect the public side of the site leaving untouched the private, agents site. Something about this makes me doubtful that the changes are going to be very substantial, but I guess we will find out next week.

Certainly one feature I would very much like for the association to improve is the “Schedule Showing” feature.

After all, the zillions of hits that har.com gets on a daily basis are due in part to the listings that all agents post on the MLS. (I hope HAR.com doesn’t think it is some standalone real estate hub like Zillow or Trulia) It is only appropriate that the association give back by generating as many leads for the agent by making the Schedule Showing button more prominent. Or even change it to: Request more Info instead. Schedule showing can be a bit intimidating.

I guess we shall wait and see…
